The diagrams on these pages are a visual description of musical scales. The notes are described in Kodaly terms, (Do, Re, Mi etc) around a clock face, with each hour corresponding to one note of the chromatic scale. Most scales use only a subset of the 12 chromatic scale notes, with gaps in the 'hour marks' where notes are not part of the scale.
The intervals between notes are shown as colour-coded lines as described in the legend. For example, the interval of a Major Third is illustrated by a red line.
Modes of a given scale use the same set of notes starting at a different point of the clock face, e.g. the Dorian mode of the Major scale starts on 'Re'
